#BuckleupBlue#4Lauryn
NTCHS will have an assembly on Friday, March 4th, starting at 9am in the auditorium for students in grades 7-12. Community members are also invited to attend as Pat Goldhahn will be speaking about the importance of buckling up and tell the story of his daughter's tragedy.
In this lesson, third grade students learned about real-life bridge design. In the activity, Paper Bridge Engineering, the students used their knowledge of forces to build a strong bridge that supported as many pennies as possible -- using only paper! One of the bridges held ALL of the pennies we had, which was 604. We had to add on a pencil box, iPad and teacher's cell phones to push the bridge to failure. A big concept we focused on was how failure leads us to discovery and helps us learn!
This weekend was an optional science fair prep time. A lot of our sunburst students seized the opportunity to get some work done. Thank you to the parents who came in to help.
The 6th graders, led by Mrs. Chilton, worked on blackout poetry today. They used a much loved copy of the book "Tuck Everlasting" which the class just finished reading. This project had students choose a page from the book and create a poem using words on the page. They then had to darken the rest of the page completely or create a design.
4th graders are putting the finishing touches on their projects, and we have one complete! Yahooo!! Come support them at our local Science Fair on March 7th.
